From the Precision Strike to Barbaric Shelling: Pakistan Devastated Poonch on post “Operation Sindoor”

Operation Sindoor

Introduction

In the face of substantial cross-border tension, Pakistan relinquished a Burberry and heavy selling by targeting the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir in India following the successful launch of Operation Sindoor. It is the targeted operation against the terrorism sheltered by Pakistan that eliminated some significant terror networks across the Line of Control (LoC). Right after launching this operation, Pakistani forces have affected the guiltless civilians and military personnel through the mortar and artillery shelling. This article discusses the strategic goals, timeline and the real repercussions of Operation Sindoor, along with the way Pakistan’s cruel response by devastating the different parts of Poonch, completely turned the country into the frontline of resilience and suffering.

The launch of a strategic strike called Operation Sindoor

The launch and execution of the Operation Sindoor

The mission of Operation Sindoor is to neutralise some infrastructure and terror training camps within the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and some regions in Pakistan. A total of 9 places, including the 5 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and 4 in Pakistan, were targeted. The operation specifically focused on the facilities linked with the three terrorist groups, such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, HizbulMujahideen, and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Here is the breakdown of the locations that India mainly targets.

MarkazTaiba Camp: Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters were linked with the Mumbai attack in 2008.

MarkazSubhan Camp: The recruitment and training hub of Jaish-e-Mohammed.

MehmoonaJoya Camp: Associated with an attack on an Indian air base in 2016 and  HizbulMujahideen terrorists.

Gulpur Camp: It prepared the mastermind behind the Mumbai attack in 2008.

Sarjal Camp: Actively linked with killing the police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir in India recently.

Abbas Camp: The training centre of the suicide bombers, powered by Lashkar-e-Taiba.

SyednaBelal Camp: Facility hub for Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists.

SawaiNala Camp: A key training centre for Lashkar-e-taiba.

Barnala Camp: This is a significant training centre for the terrorists where they learn to make explosive devices and receive training for weapon handling.

The authorities and weaponry used in Operation Sindoor

The joint operation under the administration of the Chief of Defence Staff in India involved the three branches, including the Air Force, Navy, and Army. The strategic strikes under the Operation Sindoor have used HAMMER glide bombs, SCALP missiles, 105 mm light Howitzers, and another most lethal weapon named loitering munitions.

The measures to protect the civilians

All the strikes conducted during the operation Sindoor in the terror camps to disassemble the terror camps only. Special consciousness has been taken to not hit the innocent civilians, military installations, and the population of Pakistan.

The historic decision of briefing of Operation Sindoor by the women officers

Two female officers of the Indian armed forces led the briefing

In the history of India, it is a great move to empower two women officers to brief on the complete operation. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi led the complete briefing of Operation Sindoor. This significant leadership has not only reflected the increasing role of women in the armed forces of India but also sent a robust message of resilience and unity. The selection of these two female officers for briefing on the operation was symbolic in this regard. The “Sindoor” denotes the vermilion mark put by the married women. This nomenclature is specially taken into account to tribute and provides justice to the women who encountered the loss of their husbands in the terror attack in Pahalgam.

Escalation of tension in Poonch district

Infrastructure destruction and civil casualties

Soon after the operation Sindoor was launched by India, Pakistan installed the barbaric shelling by targeting the Poonch region of Indian Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly, 43 people have been killed and 43 other people are injured due to the heavy and barbaric Shelling across the line of control that escalated amid tension between the two countries, India and Pakistan. The shelling mainly targeted the civilian areas in Tangdhar and Poonch, which ultimately led to the humanitarian crisis and the huge evacuation in this particular region. It has also damaged the houses, burnt the vehicles, and hampered the shops, creating debris and bloodshed in the streets of this region.

International calls for restraint

The international community and global leaders have expressed deep concerns over escalating the conflict between India and Pakistan. The United Nations, China, Russia, and other Western countries have urged both countries to engage in diplomatic talks and exercise restraint to prevent future deterioration in this matter.

Conclusion

Operation Sindoor signifies a pivotal shift in addressing the terrorism strategy by emphasising the dismantling of the military bases that support the cross-border terrorism. While this strike has achieved its mission and proper objectives, the escalation along the line of control, specifically in the Poonch district, has shaken the peace. The loss of innocent civilians has highlighted the urgent requirement for both India and Pakistan to mitigate the conflict and prioritise diplomatic conversation to build long-term peace and stability.
