The six-month-old baby was badly hurt when a pet pit bull attacked the infant in Sikka Colony of Sonipat, Haryana. The incident, which reportedly took place on September 14, was captured on CCTV, and the footage has since circulated widely on social media.
The baby was in the arms of its aunt when the attack took place. The woman, too, was hurt when she tried to save her child from the dog's attack. The baby is now being treated at the PGIMS Rohtak, where it is in a critical state.

What Happened in the Sonipat Pitbull Attack?
The Sonipat pitbull attack happened while the six-month-old child was being taken for a walk by his aunt.
As per the CCTV footage, the dog is seen approaching the woman and the baby before attacking them. The impact of the attack led to the woman and baby falling on the floor, after which the dog snatched the baby and dragged it down the road.
People from the neighbourhood immediately came to assist in this matter. It was reported that a young man somehow managed to get the baby away from the jaws of the dog.
Aunt Also Injured While Trying to Save Baby
The baby’s aunt got injured as well in the accident. She intervened when the dog bit the baby but ended up getting bitten herself.
According to the family, the baby had sustained many serious injuries, including facial injuries, abdominal injuries, and injuries to other parts of the body. The baby was first admitted to the hospital and then transferred to PGIMS Rohtak.
Baby Under Treatment at Rohtak PGI
The infant is undergoing treatment in PGIMS Rohtak Hospital. There have been reports that say the condition of the infant is critical.
This situation has created anxiety among the locals because the assault took place in a residential location when the infant was merely walking on the street.
The Sonipat pit bull attack has also renewed questions about the responsibility of pet owners and the precautions required when keeping powerful dogs in residential areas.
